PURPOSE:To prevent a strip from being damaged, by providing a conical roller in a conveyance passage for the strip so that the generating line of the peripheral surface of the roller at the strip turning side is almost perpendicular to the direction of incoming of the strip and by changing the direction of movement of the strip while keeping it in surface contact with the peripheral surface of the roller. CONSTITUTION:A conical roller 10 is rotatably supported in a conveyance passage for a strip S with a width of W so that the strip is wound around the roller and the generating line X of the peripheral surface of the roller at the strip turning side is almost perpendicular to the direction of incoming of the strip. The conical angle theta of the roller 10, the angle alpha of contact between the strip S and the roller, the angle beta of twisting of the strip, etc. are set at appropriate values to change the direction of movement of the strip S by a prescribed angle gamma while keeping the strip in surface contact with the peripheral surface of the conical roller 1. |
