<p>PURPOSE:To eliminate an afterglow at arc extinction and to prevent overexposure during short-distance photography by charging a commutating capacitor for arc extinction of a GTO connected in series with a xenon lamp by using a voltage drop caused by a diode provided to a discharging path. CONSTITUTION:A thyristor 9 turns on by the closure of an X contact 12 to trigger the xenon lamp 7 and also turns on the GTO25. Then, a discharging current flows to the lamp 7, which turns on, thereby charging the commutating capacitor 32 corresponding to a voltage drop caused across the diode by the discharging current. When the thyristor 29 turns on by a dimming signal from a photodetecting circuit 24, the commutating capacitor flows a negative gate current between the cathode and gate of the GTO, which turns on.</p> |
