PURPOSE:To provide the titled printer such that the contents of a record can be confirmed immediately after thermal transfer recording and a thermal recording medium can be easily disposed of, by a method wherein a recording paper and a sheet form transfer-type thermal recording medium are separated from each other after thermal transferring and the recording medium used for transferring is taken up. CONSTITUTION:The thermal recording medium 2 rolled in the form of a supplying roll 9 is fed in the direction of an arrow (c) while being pressed against the recording paper 3 by an auxiliary roller 41, and is taken up around a taken- up roll 8. An adjustment is made to generate appropriate slipping between a belt 6 and pulleys 7A, 7B in such a degree that the recording medium 24 used for transferring is not largely sagged. Accordingly, the recording paper 3 being recorded and the recording medium 24 used for transferring can be separated by a separator 11 immediately after recording.
