PURPOSE:To enhance the reliability of a gate turn-OFF thyristor inexpensively by transmitting two signals of turn ON and turn OFF to GTOs, respectively through the same optical transmitter. CONSTITUTION:A current which is outputted from an ON pulse generator 2 is set larger than that outputted from an OFF pulse generator 7. The magnitude of the voltage across a resistor 20 which is connected to a light receiving element 14 is determined by the magnitude of a current of a light emitting element 12. The output signal of a level detector 20 or 22 is inputted to an amplifier 15 by the magnitude of the voltage. When the generator 2 outputs a pulse, the amplifier 15 operates, and when the generator 7 outputs a pulse, the amplifier 16 operates. GTOs are turned ON or OFF by these outputs. |
