PURPOSE:To make a pattern discriminator constantly receive a stable image regardless of the pellet mounting status by a method wherein the light quantity is adjusted corresponding to the light reflecting status of a pellet. CONSTITUTION:A light illuminated by the fixed scattering light sources 211, 212 and the movable light sources 221, 222 fixed on a cylindrical lens barrel is reflected by a pellet 11 on a lead frame 12 to be received as a pattern image by a television camera 16 through the intermediary of a lens 15. A pattern recognition unit 17 discriminates an image taken by the television camera 16 to set up a bonding position. A controller 23 transmits a control to an illuminating power supply 24 corresponding to an output from the pattern recognition unit 17 to select the optimum light quantity of the illuminating light sources 211, 212, 221, 222. Through these procedures, the television camera 16 may constantly receive a stable pattern image. |
