PURPOSE:To increase the density of information on a transmission line and to shorten a transmission time by sectioning a character code string into blocks of specific length, and coding newly and transmitting those blocks. CONSTITUTION:A character code string with specific length is inputted to a memory 11. A character code division part 13 sections character codes from the memory at every space code and outputs them to an encoding retrieval part 14. The retrieval part 14 receives divided character code strings and retrieves in an encoding table 15 by using each divided character code string as a retrieval key; when the retrieval key is found in the table 15, the retrieval result is outputted as a block code and when not, the retrieval key is outputted as the block code. The output block code is sent out to a transmission line and decoded on a reception side. |
