PURPOSE:To attain the reciprocating azimuth record and reproduction by setting the number of tracks of a reproduction or record magnetic head larger than the desired number by >=2 tracks and unifying both magnetic heads with prescribed distance secured between gap surfaces of both heads. CONSTITUTION:A record magnetic head 1 and a reproduction magnetic head 2 have the azimuth angle and the track pitch P, and at the same time the space A between gap surfaces of both heads 1 and 2 is set as A=P.Tantheta. Then the magnetic head is tilted by a mechanical means by an azimuth angle theta to the traveling direction of a magnetic tape 3. Thus it is possible to secure correspondence between tracks (b), (c), (d) and (e) of the head 1 tracks (a), (b), (c) and (d) of the head 2 with no shift. The tape 3 is removed in its coming-back route and then loaded again to a tape driving mechanism to be set the tape upside down. Then the magnetic head is turned reversely by 2theta to perform a reverse azimuth recording. Thus the corresponding is secured between tracks (b), (c), (d) and (e) and tracks (c), (d), (e) and (f), respectively. |
