PURPOSE:To attain high speed print with a simple processing by controlling digitally a print pulse width of each dot of a picture printer only with the operation of a line memory. CONSTITUTION:When a line head has 2<n> element and the printing is of 2<m> gradation, a drive circuit 2, a latch 3 and a shift register 4 are the 2<n> element and an address input to an address counter 6 and a line memory 5 is n-bit. A data output of the memory 5, a gradation counter 8 and two inputs of a digital comparator 9 are m-bit each. The carry 7 of the counter 6 is counted by a counter 8, an output data (e) of the memory 5 and a count vlaue (f) of the counter 8 are compared at the comparator 9, and only when the output (e) is larger than the count value (f), an output (g) of the comparator 9 is taken as one level and given to the register 4, and the print pulse width of each dot of the line head is controlled for attaining gradation print. |
