PURPOSE:To improve deflection efficiency by emitting an electron beam from a number of linear hot cathodes, deflecting it in a specified direction, and comprising a deflection plate that irradiates a phosphor screen with parallel and inclined sections. CONSTITUTION:An electron emitted from linear hot cathodes 22 arrives at an electron beam extraction electrode 23 with a number of insertion holes in the same direction as the cathodes 22 by controlling the quantity and the angle of radiation in the vertical direction. An electron beam passes through the electrode 23 is focused by a focusing electrode 24 and enters a deflection plate 25 and then is deflected vertically. The deflected beam permits its passing to selectively be controlled by an electrode group 26 and is horizontally deflected and is accelerated, and then arrives at a display board 27 coated with a phosphor layer. The deflection plate 25 is composed of parallel and inclined sections 28 and 29. The parallel section 28 is provided at the incident side of an electron beam 31 and the inclined section 29 is provided at the exit side. The angle of radiation for the inclined section 29 is selected between the angle of lower side deflection shown by the line 36 of the electron beam and the angle of upper side part deflection shown by a line 37 and the deflection efficiency of the electron beam can be improved. |
