Solid waste is shredded and mixed with waste water (108) for separation (110) into and separate removal (112, 168) of organic and inorganic solid components. The waste water flow carrying dissolved or suspended components of the waste is then fed for coarse filtration through a multi-stage filter system (142) in which loose fillings of coal, thermally produced from the organic components of the waste are moved through the flow, e.g. by use of hollow screens or buckets mounted on an endless conveyor or an endless filter belt. Used fillings from filter (142) and subsequent filtration stages (114, 106) involving coal fillings (120, 126) moved intermittently or continuously are led (120, 146) into a reactor of a multi- reactor pile for carbonization of collected sludge producing regenerated coal and combustible gas, the regenerated coal being re-used in the filter system. in another reactor of the pile solid waste or used linings are incinerated to produce heat and combustible gas. <IMAGE> |
