An apparatus for the packaging-related plaiting of cloths or the like has driveable conveyor bands (1, 2) which lead from a feed station by way of folding stations to a reception station (7). To achieve a mechanical plaiting and folding of a plurality of cloths and for the production of multiple packs without manual intervention, two conveyor bands (1, 2) are arranged in a row one behind the other, are each divided into parallel strips and have drives (3), synchronised with one another, for step-like conveying movements. The first conveyor band (1), running forwards in steps, leads from the feed or a longitudinal-folding station to a transverse-folding station and then transfers the prefolded cloths to the second conveyor band (2), which runs forwards or backwards in steps and which interacts with the lifting device (31) of a stacking station (6) and leads to a finish-folding or reception station (7). <IMAGE> |
