Drive transmission unit for electric window winder in car

The drive transmission unit has a worm (26) and pinion (9) unit. The pinion is supported within a carriage (5) that is fixed to the window panel that is to be moved in a vertical direction. At the bottom end of the worm is a bevel gear drive (15) to an electric motor. The pinion reacts against a rack profile (16) that runs parallel to the rotating worm. Both the worm shaft and the rack are supported within a pressed metal housing (7) that is profiled to wrap around the worm and fit into the carriage stage. An alternative version uses a second worm instead of a rack that is coupled to a manual winding handle.
