PURPOSE:To obtain a positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte battery such as a lithium battery having an excellent moldability and a great discharge capacity by using as a binding agent a suspension liquid of minute particles of an ethylene tetrafluoride-propylene hexafluoride copolymer resin. CONSTITUTION:A positive active material having a grain diameter of around 5-50mu is prepared by dehydrating electrolytic manganese dioxide by heating it at 400 deg.C for 4hr. Graphite powder having a grain diameter of 1-40mu is used as a conductive agent. An aqueous dispersion of an ethylene tetrafluoride-propylene hexafluoride copolymer resin (mean grain diameter, 0.1mu) is used as a binding agent for the positive active material powder and the conductive agent powder. After the binding agent is added to the positive active material and the conductive agent, the mixture is subjected to pressure molding thereby obtaining a positive electrode 1, which has small cracks and cuts. A battery constituted by use of the positive electrode 1 has a high utilization rate and a great discharge capacity. |
