PURPOSE:To prevent damages due to an earthquake shock generating in the direction of the axis of a cooling pipe and in the orthogonal horizontal direction by a method wherein the condenser in a thermo-electric or an atomic power plant is made to have such an earthquake-proof structure that the lower half of the condenser near the base is strengthened so as to withstand the earthquake shock. CONSTITUTION:The side section 14a of a support plate 14 for the cooling pipe 4 is fixed integrally by welding to a shell plate 1a of the lower trunk 1 of the condenser and the lower part 14b of the support plate 14 is welded to a bottom plate 9. With the above earthquake proof structure of the condenser, it is possible to improve the rigidity of the lower half of the condenser near the base with respect to an earthquake shock. In the shown example, a ceiling plate 21 of a hotwell 10 is formed of a thick plate having a size large enough to cover the whole of the hotwell 10 and the outer edge thereof is welded to the shell plate 10a. Further, the side surface 16a of the support plate 16 for the cooling pipe 4 is welded to to the shell plate 1a and the lower part 16b of the support plate 16 is welded to the ceiling plate 21 of the hotwell 10. |
