The hydraulic control device has a flow control valve (16) and a braking device (51, 52, 71, 89). In the case of a braking process, the pressure medium fed by the pump is controlled so as to go to the brake cylinder (89) via the flow control valve and a non-return valve (38). During this process, pressure is exerted on the piston (52) together with slide (51), as a result of which said pressure is set in such a way that a neutral circulation flow is produced from the pump to the container and pressure medium can flow to the brake device. So that a low pressure (p) which releases the brakes is always available even during driving, a pressure-limiter valve (97) is connected into the return line (96) from the control device to the container. <IMAGE>
