The invention relates to a frame profile element, for windows, doors or the like, comprising metal sheet profiles forming the surface of the profile element and relieved at least to a large extent as regards strength and torsion stiffness, and a common, solid profile core, which can be non-positively bonded to these metal sheet profiles, made of synthetic-resin foam, eg. polyurethane. For a cost-effective production and the creation of good insulation characteristics with sufficient stability it is envisaged to provide thin metal sheet profiles made of aluminium or the like substantially only on the inner-side and outer-side surface of the profile core, which is exposed on its other surfaces, and thus to form a laminate structure (a sandwich structure) with the profile core.
