The invention relates to a dental root pin for insertion in a root canal, which may be drilled open, of a tooth. The dental root pin is designed as a dimensionally stable, truncated conical pin for hermetically sealed, positive insertion into the root canal. It consists of titanium or a titanium alloy which is physiologically acceptable. The jacket surface of the dental root pin is preferably roughened in the manner of a blade in order to permit optimally accurate fitment of the dental root pin into the root canal by filing or grinding forward and backward movement of the pin. <IMAGE>
