PURPOSE:To eliminate a fault of operation and to attain a quick transaction by discontinuing the opening of the cover of a note collective insertion port and delivering a cover opening command again to repeat the cover opening action within a prescribed period of time in case the cover is not opened even with the cover opening command. CONSTITUTION:A customer puts the deposit notes 6 into an insertion slit 2 after a cover 3 is opened and then closes the cover 3. Then a draw-out roller 7 sends out the notes 6 one by one to a carrying path 8 with prescribed intervals. A controller 30 gives a cover opening command to a motor 20 and decides the output signal of a switch mechanism to decide the opening of the cover 3. The controller 30 resets once the cover opening mechanism to its original position if the cover 3 is not opened after the cover opening command is delivered and then delivers a cover opening command again. A counter is incorporated into a memory 31 of the controller 30 to repeat the above-mentioned operations for a prescribed period. Then the mechanical sounds are produced repetitively between the component members of the cover opening mechanism to arouse an attention of the customer.
