A track tamping, levelling and lining machine has a main chassis 6 with spaced undercarriages, and a tool support frame 16 with its own track wheels and universally articulated to the main chassis, carrying a tamping unit 13 and a lifting and lining unit 14. The machine also carries a track stabiliser 36 for applying lateral vibrations to the track.
