The mould described is used for the formation of retention bodies made of a cast metal such as dental gold or the like on the veneering surface of metal crowns or bridges for the retention of a veneer of plastic or porcelain. It comprises a leaf-like flexible grid body (1) having mutually crossing strands (4) of a dimensionally stable plastic which can be combusted without residue and whose strands (4) have a cross-sectional shape which tapers toward the outside relative to the grid plane at least on one side of the central grid plane. The strands (4) preferably have a circular cross-section, the diameter being 0.25 to 0.35, preferably 0.3 mm. The openings (3) between the strands (4) are rectangular or in the shape of honeycombs. Their mean opening width is 0.25 to 0.35, preferably 0.3 mm. Suitable materials are plastics which can be combusted without residue, for example polyamides or the like. <IMAGE>
