Torque limiting coupling.

The coupling has a driving member (1) with a flange (2) with a number of recesses for balls (9). The latter fit in deeper recesses in a second flange (8) which has an extended sleeve (35). When the permissible torque is exceeded, the ball is forced out of its recess in the flange. It moves the second flange axially against a spring (12) force. A sleeve (35) abuts against a shoulder (37) of a disc (22) and pushes it axially against the force of springs (24) so that the disc and its friction pad (23) are separated from the driven plate (26), thus disengaging the coupling.
