The present invention provides apparatus for lifting or stabilising marine structures, and is especially useful for positioning the top works of an oil/gas platform. Thus there is provided apparatus for supporting marine structures comprising immersible buoyancy means, upstanding lifting columns on said buoyancy means liftably engageable with the structure to be raised and lowered, and means for varying the buoyancy means to place the means in a substantially deeply immersed mode or in a buoyant rising lifting mode.
