PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material excellent in image reliability, color forming property and optical reading in an infrared region wherein a ferric salt of a higher fatty acid and a specified compound such as a polyhydric hydroxyaromatic compound are provided in a thermal color forming layer, and a protective layer comprising a white pigment is provided thereon. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material provided with a thermal color forming layer comprising leuco dye and a color deeloper therefor on a base, (A) a ferric salt of a higher.fatty acid (preferably, one having a 16-24C aliphatic group, particularly ferric stearate) in a quantity of preferably 0.5-1pts.wt. (per pt.wt. of the leuco dye) and (B) at least one member selected from the group consisting of a polyhydric hydroxyaromatic compound (preferably, tannic or gallic acid), dipheylcarbazide, diphenylcarbazone, hexamethylenetetramine, spirobenzopyran and 1-formyl-4-phenylsemicarbazide in a quantity of preferably 2.5-3.5pts.wt. (per pt.wt. of the lueco dye) are incorporated into the color forming layer. Further, a protective layer comprising a white pigment is provided thereon. |
