PURPOSE:To provide an inexpensive printer capable of printing characters, symbols and graphic patterns, by a construction wherein three wires are provided in a vertical direction in a printing head of a wire dot printer, and characters in one line are printed by scanning a plurality of times. CONSTITUTION:The printing head 1 is constituted of three wires provided in the vertical direction. For example, a character is constituted of 9 dots in vertical direction and 5 dots in horizontal direction, and a space between lines is constituted of 3 dots. The dot spacing between the wires is set to be 1/72 inch. In the first cycle consisting of one-time reciprocation, 3-dot part of each character is printed. This means that the dot height amounts to 1/24 inch (three times of 1/72 inch), so that paper feed quantity is set to be 1/24 inch. From the first cycle to the third cycle, printing of dots and feeding of the paper are repeated, and in the fourth cycle, printing is not conducted but the paper is fed to provide the dot spacing. |
