[Also in Division H1] In a system for connecting individual wires to connecting lugs prior to soldering, a device is provided which engages the wire to be connected, bares it and positions it on a false lug within the device prior to being threaded on to the connecting lug proper, the latter expelling the false lug as it enters the device and taking its place so that the wire is automatically positioned thereon. The false lug 4 is formed of a metal strap terminated by a hook (Fig. 3, not shown) normal to the strap so that when a circuit wire 30 is engaged by the hook movable portions 7 and 8 of the device, operated by a trigger 12, move over the relatively fixed hook to guide the circuit wire between cutting blades 10 and 11 to cut back the insulation thereon. The strap 21 (Fig. 5) is wedged into cavities 25, 26 in the movable portions 7 and 8 by the connecting lug proper as it enters the device and a longitudinal slot in the lug (Fig. 7, not shown) accommodates the bared wire loop prior to the withdrawal of the device. |
