PURPOSE:On the reaction between a halogenated aryl compound, carbon monoxide and alcohol, an alcoholic solution of cobalt tetracarbonyl anion is used as a catalyst and the reaction is conducted in the presence of a basic substance under pressure to produce the titled compound advantageously. CONSTITUTION:A cobalt compound, carbon monoxide and hydrogen are made to react, preferably in an alcohol solvent to form an alcoholic solution of cobalt tetracarbonyl anion. Then, the solution is used as a catalyst to effect the reaction between a compound of the formula (X is halogen; R1 is H, 1-3C alkyl; R2 is H, halogen, 1-8C straight- or branched-chain alkyl, carboxylic alkyl ester, alkoxy, halogenated alyl; Ar is mono- or more cyclic aryl such as benzene or naphthalene nucleus), carbon monoxide and an alcohol in the presence of a basic substance, preferably under pressure of 5-30kg/cm<2>. Thus, the titled compound is obtained in high yield with a small amount of the catalyst through simple operation by no use of reagents difficult to handle. |
