PURPOSE:To provide a heat-sensitive recording material which is highly sensitive, excellent in storage stability and high in film strength and can provide a high quality picture, by providing a intermediate layer which contains an ionomer resin between a special heat-sensitive recording layer and a support. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous dispersion of an ionomer resin obtained by erosslinking with a metallic ion(e.g., Na<+> or Mg<2+>) a copolymer between an alpha-olefin (e.g., ethylene) and an alpha, beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid[e.g., (meth) acrylic acid]is mixed with a binder (e.g., PVA) in a wt. ratio of at least 1:1 and uniformly dispersed to obtain a dispersion, which is then applied on a support in a thickness of 0.3-5mum and dried to obtain an intermediate layer. The titled recording material is obtained by providing on said intermediate layer a heat-sensitive recording layer containing, pref., an ionomer resin and a binder such as PVA in a wt. ratio of 2:3- 9:1, said layer having a character that the part which has been heated as a lowered water solubility. |
