Imidazoline conditioner for the flotation of oxidized coal

Froth flotation of oxidized coal in the presence of certain imidazoline or imidazolinium salts improves both the selectivity and recovery attained. Imidazolines found particularly efficacious are those bearing a fatty alkyl group in the 2- position and an N-aminoethyl or N-hydroxyethyl group. Preferred imidazolinium salts are those corresponding to the following formula: <IMAGE> wherein R is a C6 to C22 alkyl or alkenyl group.
