PURPOSE:To prevent a trouble of a temperature detecting device caused by adhering offset toner, by setting a time, within which the surface temperature of a fixing roller becomes the lowest critical fixing temperature, and performing copying operations under a condition where the temperature detecting device is not contacted with the fixing roller until the set time comes. CONSTITUTION:When a copy signal is outputted, copying operation is continued and a timer which sets a time t1, by which the surface temperature of a fixing roller 11 is lowered to a fixing critical temperature T is turned on and continuous paper feeding is started and a temperature detecting device 15 is separated from the fixing roller 11 surface. When the timer detects the t1, the copying operation is interrupted and the temperature detecting device 15 is contacted with the fixing roller 11 surface and, even when the timer does not detect the t1, the temperature detecting device 15 is contacted with the fixing roller 11 surface simultaneously to the termination of the copying operation. Then, a temperature detecting element 15a immediately starts the temperature control. Therefore, incidence of troubles caused by adhering offset toner can be prevented. |
