PURPOSE:To improve working efficiency and minimize unevenness in grinding, in a grinding apparatus for a drum for communication cable, etc., by providing a supporting mechanism for circumferentially rotating a flange drum, a grinding mechanism for grinding the periphery of the winding drum, and a grinding mechanism of the flange. CONSTITUTION:A drum grinding mechanism B and flange grinding mechanisms C, C are retreated by a hoisting mechanism F and a rotating mechanism H, and then a flange drum 1 is carried into a frame body 9 of the grinding apparatus to be mounted on a supporting mechanism A. Then sand paper 73 attached to the grinding mechanism B is placed on a portion of the surface of the winding drum 2 in contact therewith and a U-shaped portion of sand paper 73 of the grinding mechanism C is placed on a portion of the flange 3 to stride over the same and to contact the inside surface of the circumference of the same. With a presser roller 106 placed against the periphery of the flange, motors 13, 46, 92 are driven and desired amounts of grinding is performed while the drum is rotated, on both the surface of the winding drum with the grinding mechanism B given reciprocating motions between the flange 3 and the inside surfaces of the circumferences of the flanges. Thus, working efficiency is enhanced, uneven grinding is minimized, and working environment for the workers is improved. |
