METHOD AND DEVICE FOR QUICKLY COOLING MOLDING SAND IN COMBINATION USE OF PNEUMATIC CONVEYANCE

PURPOSE:To convey smoothly and pneumatically molding sand by feeding pressurized air to the molding sand which is subjected to cooling and dehumidifying treatment in a hermetic tank to provide fluidity thereto and synchronizing the timing for opening a discharging port communicating with an air feed pipe and the ejection of the pressure air to the discharging port. CONSTITUTION:A damper 4 is opened to charge a specified volume of the molding sand 16 in a hopper 15 into an evacuation chamber 11, and a vacuum mechanism is operated to evacuate instantaneously the sand 16 and the inside of the chamber 11 through a pipe 8 thereby sucking out the heat and moisture of the sand 16. A valve V1 is closed upon lapse of a set time to feed pressurized air through the fine hole 7 groups of pipes 10, 9 and 8 into the deposit of the sand 16 in the chamber 11 so that substantial fluidity is applied to the sand 16. The valve V is opened when the internal pressure attains a set value to eject the pressurized air from a nozzle 5 to the part near a discharging port 6. The damper 4 is opened in synchronization with said ejection to blow smoothly and successively the sand 16 to an air feed pipe 12. The adjustment of the temp. and moisture of the sand under reiterative use and the smooth and reliable pneumatic conveyance thereof are thus made possible.
