PURPOSE:To shift easily and surely a work roll in its axial direction, by interlocking and releasing one end of a screw shaft with and from the end of an extension arm provided to a roll chock of a work roll with the aid of a keeper plate. CONSTITUTION:Work rolls 5, 6 are respectively disposed freely slidably in the axial directions through roll chocks 9, and extension arms 17 extending to the directions of the axial ends are respectively provided to the roll chocks 9, and vertically interlocking grooves are provided to the ends of the arms 17. On the other hand, connecting parts 22 capable of being interlocked with the arms 17 ends are respectively provided to screw shafts 21 to make the shafts 21 movable in the axial directions by shift motors 26 through reducers. Further, keeper plates 32 are provided, which penetrate the connecting parts 22 and are capable of going into and out of the interlocking grooves of the arms 17 ends. Furthermore, bearing blocks 40 of spindles 38, for connecting the rolls 5, 6 and a roll driving device 37, and the side ends of nonconnecting parts 22 of the shafts 21 are connected through arms 36, shafts 35, and guide frames 25, therefore the spindles 38 can also follow up the shifts of the rolls 5, 6. |
