PURPOSE:To avoid the deterioration of the error correcting capacity with a track which is under a normal working state despite the breakdown of a head generated before the sound recording is started, by sending artificially the correct data in case an unavailable track is produced. CONSTITUTION:When a certain track, e.g., a track corresponding to a switch 14-1 is unavailable, the switch 14-1 is changed toward a contact 14-1B. In this case, an error correcting code generating circuit 10 and an error detecting code generating circuit 11 work at all times to the track corresponding to the switch 14-1 under a premise that the input PCM signals are all set at ''O''. At the same time, the record signal of the track corresponding to a switch 14-1' which works in response to the switch 14-1 passes through a circuit 15 which compensates the shift of timing between record and reproduction modes and is supplied to an error detecting circuit 12 as the reproduction side. While the signal of the unavailable track passes through switches 14-1, 14-2..., and the artificial data is always supplied to the reproduction side from the record side. |
