887,763. Vulcanizing alpha-mono-olefin polymers. MONTECATINI SOC. GENERALE PER L'INDUSTRIA MINERARIA E CHIMICA. July 18, 1960 [July 23, 1959], No. 24947/60. Class 2(6) Saturated amorphous alpha-mono-olefin polymers and copolymers are vulcanized in the presence of organic percompounds, sulphur or quinone compounds and acid fillers by mixing the polymer or copolymer with the acid filler adding from 0.1 to 20 % (of the filler) of an oxide, hydroxide, basic salt or salt of a metal of Group I, II, III or VIII, working this mix for from 5 to 20 minutes, adding the sulphur, quinone or percompound, mixing and vulcanizing. Specified mono-olefins are mixtures of ethylene and propylene or butene-1 while specified percompounds are cumyl peroxide and cumyl tert-butyl peroxide. There may also be present a basic organic substance, e.g. diphenyl guanidine, hexamethylene diamine, pyridine, triethanolamine, a condensation product of ammonia with formaldehyde and ethyl chloride and the product of triazole and hexamethylenetetramine 2:6-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol may also be present. |
