Heading C2C. 6,10 - Dimethylundecatrien - (3,5,10) - one (2) is prepared by pyrolysing 3,7-dimethylocten- (7)-yn-(1)-yl-(3) acetoacetate at 100-400‹ C., the pyrolysis being conducted in the presence of an acid catalyst and/or the product of the pyrolysis being heated at 100-400‹ C. with an acid catalyst. 3,7 - Dimethylocten - (7) - yn - (1) - yl - (3) acetoacetate, which is said to be a novel compound, is prepared by reacting 3,7-dimethylocten-(7)-yn-(1)-ol-(3) with diketene in the presence of an alkaline catalyst. #-Ionone is prepared by cyclizing 6,10-dimethyl - undecatrien - (3,5,10) - one - (2) in hexene with cone. sulphuric acid. |
