PURPOSE:To enable a good mixture to be formed so as to promote combustion improving fuel consumption and exhaust color, by providing grooves, which cross jets, in the side of an outlet end of the jet. CONSTITUTION:Grooves 14 crossing jets 12 are provided in outlet ends of the jets 12 of a fuel injection valve 11. Atomized fuel 15 injected from the jet 12 is formed in an oval or belt shaped cross section by providing the groove 14 of oval shape in the side of the outlet end of the jet 12. That is, a shape of the atomized fuel 15, injected from the jet 12 via the groove 14 and having the section of oval shape agreed to the oval shape of the groove 14 in the main combustion chamber 17 of a piston 16 can be spread to a wider range of the atomized fuel 15 as compared with that in the case of a jet of circular section, and this causes a utilization factor of air in the main combustion chamber 17 to improve, thus a good mixture between fuel and air can be formed in a wide region of the main combustion chamber 17. |
