PURPOSE:To make invisible heads of rivets and weld traces on the outer side of a muffler for improving the external appearance thereof by fitting and mounting a cover plate in a recess of the rear portion of the muffler. CONSTITUTION:The rear portion of an outer tube 10 is extended rearward further than the fixed position of an end plate 12 to form a recess 14 of the extension 13 and the end plate 12. To the end plate 12 forming the recess is secured fixedly a fitting member 15, while a cover plate 9 is provided with a peripheral portion 9b. When the cover plate 9 is pushed toward the rear end face of a muffler 8, the peripheral portion 9b of the cover plate 9 is fitted in a curved portion 15b of the fitting member 15 fixed to the end plate 12. By this fitting is prevented the cover plate 9 from dropping out of the muffler 8 while said cover plate 9 can be simply mounted on the rear end face of the muffler 8. |
