The title compds. I (R1=H, acyl; R2=H, R1O, NHSO2R7, NHCOR8, NH-CH2-C6H4-R9, ahlo, CN, etc.; R3=H, halo, R7, OR7; R4=H; R5, R6 independently=H, CH3; R7=C1-C4 alkyl; R8=H, C1-C4 alkyl; R9=H, alkyl, alkoxy; R10=H, alkyl, Ph, pyridyl; R11R12=H, CH3, C1, OCH3, methylenedioxy; X=CR10, N;Z=CH2, CO; n= 1-4), their racemates, enantiomers, diastereoisomeric antipodal pairs, and their acid addn, salts were prepd. Thus, 9.3g 2.5-dichloro-4-hydroxyphenylglyoxalate was mixed with 7.25g 1-(3-amino-3-methylbutyl) benz imidazole and 100mL alcohol at 40-50≦̸C to give 9.5g 1-(2.5-dichloro-4-hydrophenyl)-2- [4-(1-benzimidazollyl-2-methyl-2-butylamino -ethanol dihydrochloride.
