The invention relates to a data input device with optical fibres. This device comprises a keyboard 1 with keys. A flat bundle 11 of n optical fibres runs under the keys of the keyboard 1. When a key is depressed a local loss is produced which is detected by the resultant variation in the light intensity transmitted by this fibre; this permits coding over n bits.
