PURPOSE:To eliminate wasteful electric power consumption of an inverter during stoppage or coasting by setting all gate control signal to gate elements in a 3-phase inverter to an OFF state when the operated amount of an operator for an accelerator is in zero state. CONSTITUTION:A torque instruction generator 1 outputs a torque command value signal gamma in response to the operating amount of an accelerator pedal. An inverter controller 2 applies PWM pulse train P(R), P(S), P(T) in response to the torque command value signal gamma to a 3-phase inverter 6. An accelerator operation detector 10 outputs a ''0'' signal when the operating amount of the accelerator pedal is zero. A breaker circuit 11 breaks the PWM pulse train applied from the controller 2 to the inverter 6 when ''0'' signal is inputted. In this manner, wasteful electric power consumption of a vehicle battery during stoppage or coasting can be prevented. |
