PURPOSE:To improve a loss in the time of restoration working, by detecting a failure in folding a paper, always under a uniform condition, even if the length of papers varies, upon detecting the folding condition of the paper which is discharged from a printing device and is folded by a folding device. CONSTITUTION:Before starting of printing, a stopper in a stacker is set in accordance with the kind of papers. At this time a folded length detector 7 detects the position of the stopper through a position detector to detect the length of the folded paper, and therefore, delivers a signal indicating the folded length of the paper to a selecting circuit 13 which selects any one of AND circuits 14-1 through 14-n in accordance with a folding signal, such as, for example, the circuit 14-1. Then the folding period of a printed paper which is folded after being printed is detected with the use of a projector 9 and a light receiving unit 10, and the thus obtained signal is delivered to a paper pass detecting circuit 11 which issues a DETECT signal. Retriggerable monostable multivibrator circuits 12-1 through 12-n deliver TIMER signals to the AND circuits 14-1 through 14-n in the selecting circuits 13 which, in turn, deliver signals to an OR circuit 15 for informing a folding failure signal to a precedence device. |
