A method for improving the image processing in optronic missile detection devices in which the missiles are detected by means of an optronic image pick-up device, the missile images supplied by the image pick-up device are correlated with predetermined reference signals in a correlator, the correlation signals corresponding to point targets output by the correlator are processed in a data processing device with revolution statistics and target track and the output signals of the data processing system are output to an alarm device. The correlation signals output by the correlator and corresponding to correlated unweighted point targets are supplied to a device for adjacency control for creating two-dimensionally weighted point target signals which are output to the data processing system for extracting the alarm signals from the weighted point target signals. <IMAGE>
