PURPOSE:To manufacture easily flaky metallic powder from molten metal by holding a cooling liq. pool between a pair of rotating drum-shaped rolls, and charging the molten metal into the pool. CONSTITUTION:A cooling liq. such as water is fed from feeding pipes 2 to the space between a pair of rapidly rotating cooling rolls 1, 1. A drum shape is provided to the surfaces of the rolls 1 to form stably a cooling water pool 3 between the rolls 1, 1. Molten metal in an upper crucible 4 is spouted into the pool 3 under the pressure of an inert gas in a pressurizing chamber 8. The spouted molten metal is dispersed and compressed in the rapidly moving pool 3, and it is solidified as flat flaky metallic powder. The powder gathers under the rolls. |
