PURPOSE:To attain optional setting and writing in response to a padding code and to simplify the operation of a character input device, by storing an input padding code and deciding whether the function key operated after setting the padding code is equal to a padding key. CONSTITUTION:The characters and marks are printed on a character plate 1 of a character input device, and a character code is produced from a code generating part 2 in accordance with the pressed key on the plate 1. At the same time, a special character is printed to a function ket part 3, and a padding code is stored to a padding setting part 7 by pushing a key of the part 3. A padding deciding part 6 decides whether the key of the part 3 which is pushed in an input mode after setting the padding code is equal to a padding key. A control part 4 controls the parts 2, 6 and 7 respectively, and at the same time the padding code is added after an input character train code which is coded in an input mode. Thus the operation is simplified for a character input device. |
