In this photometer having an optotransmitter whose active surface has a comparatively small transverse dimension in relation to its longitudinal dimension, the light path contains a cylindrical lens (6) which forms the cross-section of the light bundle transirradiating the cell window to produce a rectangular surface having a linear magnification, the value of the quotient being nearer one than the corresponding ratio of the dimensions of the active surface of the optotransmitter (4). <IMAGE>
