A fluid investigation arrangement with a test tube (14), closed at the bottom and open at the top for the introduction of an elongate test strip (22), has an extension tube (15) with a smaller internal cross-section than the test tube (14) and which has an inlet opening (16) which can be introduced into the test tube (14). Around the inlet opening (16), the extension tube (15) has an annular piston portion (13) which can be introduced into the test tube (14) in a sealing slide seat, in order to extend the liquid column in this manner (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
