The invention relates to a hydropneumatic shock-absorbing leg for vehicles, in particular motor vehicles. It is equipped with a cylinder, with a piston having a piston rod and with a storage element which is connected to the cylinder space and in which there is a gas cushion which keeps under pressure the hydraulic medium present in the cylinder space. In the shock-absorbing leg there is a buffer device which comprises a pressure space filled with a weekly compressible fluid and a plunger piston which is arranged above the latter and in the final phase of maximum deflection with respect to the progressive characteristic of the shock-absorbing leg dips in a sealing manner into the pressure space.
