In a coupling for connection of a sleeve-like dental handpiece (1) with a connecting part (2) comprising a coupling element (4) which projects elastically and radially from the handpiece sleeve (3) towards the inside and engages with an engagement member (5) in a coupling recess (6) located on the outside of the connecting part (2), the handpiece sleeve (3) engaging over the connecting part (2) right over the coupling recess (6), a simple and uncomplicated design or arrangement of the coupling element (4), in particular, is to be possible while guaranteeing reliable connection between handpiece and connecting part, for which reason the coupling element (4) comprises a spring ring (7) mounted inside the handpiece sleeve (3) and having at least one section which projects inwardly and forms the engaging member (5) engaging in the coupling recess (6) of the connecting part (2) in the coupled state. <IMAGE>
