PURPOSE:To always keep an ink liquid level constant, by a method wherein a sub-tank is provided in a main tank so as to be moved up and down and the ink liquid level in the main tank is kept constant by the ink in the sub-tank. CONSTITUTION:A sub-tank 18 having a recovery means constituted from an ink recovery orifice 21 and a ball valve 23 is provided in a main tank 16 in a freely movable manner in an up-and-down direction. The projection 25 provided to the side wall of the main tank 16 presses a ball valve 23 to the direction shown by an arrow D when the ball valve 23 is moved to a position B to open the ink recovery orifice 21. An ink liquid level is always kept constant at the edge position of the sub-tank 18 and an ink meniscus optimum to recording can be formed. |
