PURPOSE:To nimbly adjust the handle position and suppress the downward tilt of a jacket, etc. by elastically fitting a slider between a movable bracket on the jacket side supporting a steering shaft and a stationary bracket on the car body side. CONSTITUTION:A tilt angle adjusting device 7 of a steering wheel 2 is fitted to a jacket 6 supporting a steering shaft 1. This device 7 is provided with a pair of long holes 9a on both side walls 15a of a stationary bracket main body 15 and also with a pair of through holes on both side walls of a movable bracket main body 16, a clamp bolt 11 is inserted through these holes, an adjusting lever 12 is screwed to its tip, and both main bodies 15, 16 are tightened or loosened by its rotating operation. A tapered groove 19 narrowed downward is formed on the inner surface of both side walls 15a, and a slider 22 with both ends coupled with it and provided with a compression coil spring 21 is elastically fitted, thus preventing the downward tilt of the jacket 6, etc. |
